So, I've been hatching some new ideas for art for this new year and one idea, with lots of encouragement from fellow friends and readers, is a series of paintings inspired by the "Little House on the Prairie" book series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I am very pleased to present to you the first painting, "Prairie Girls."
This painting features Mary and Laura playing on the wide expanse of the open prairie, making daisy chains in the wild grasses. The wagon is in the distance, and soon they'll be on their way to another little house and home.I'm brainstorming about other scenes to paint, there are so many. I'm so excited to start this new series and hope you enjoy it too :) if you have any suggestions, send them my way!~

Love love love! I think incorporating Jack into a painting would be adorable... ;)
ReplyDeleteOoh, can't wait! I'm re-reading the Little House series right now, and they are definitely an artistic inspiration. Laura Ingalls Wilder sure had a gift for describing the plains and prairies where her family lived.
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely! The 'Little House' books are some of my favourites, even now I like to re-read them at least a few times a year :)
ReplyDeleteHeather- these are wonderful!!! I can't wait to see more. I remember making daisy chains when I was a young girl. Their faces are just so sweet! Thank-you!

As you know, I love the Little House books, as well. Paul and I drove out to Chanute Saturday, which is almost to Independence, but we had to come back to town for a going-away party. The Little House house is on my to-visit list!
